Study Abroad Programs

Costs and Aid

The cost of studying abroad for a semester is comparable to the cost of studying on campus and most students are able to use their scholarships, grants and loans to help cover the costs of tuition and housing for any semester study abroad program.

Scholarships

The Office of Study Abroad manages a portfolio of scholarships for those students participating in university-approved off-campus programs. All students are encouraged to apply, even if their approval for a program is not yet confirmed.

Health and Safety

Your personal safety is very important to our staff. We continually assess risk associated with local and global health, safety, and security for all University-approved study abroad programs and ensure that all programs meet Forum on Education Abroad standards.

Diversity and Identity

St. Thomas strives to holistically support all students as they study abroad. Aspects of personal identity, such as race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, nationality, disability or religion may be perceived differently in a new cultural context.

Study Abroad Policies

St. Thomas Study Abroad student policies and procedures contain valuable information about academic eligibility, policies for participation, registration, financial aid matters, and pre-departure and return considerations.

All students, regardless of program, must follow the same policies for participation in off-campus study.
