Billing & Cost Information

The cost of studying abroad is comparable to tuition, room and board in St. Paul (plus airfare).  However, your cost will depend on the program to which you are applying.  In general, your grants, loans and scholarships can be applied to the program fee as long as you are approved to study abroad through the Office of Study Abroad.

Submit all required deposits directly to your program.

Your St Thomas student account will be billed for your study abroad program charges such as tuition, fees, room, and board. These charges may include an Off-Campus Study Fee and an estimated $50/month CISI required insurance charge.

St. Thomas Sponsored Programs:

Students participating on a St. Thomas sponsored program will be charged a program fee that is inclusive of tuition, housing and insurance. While some meals are included in the program fee, the specific number will vary depending upon the program.

For Semester/Year-Long Other Approved Programs, students will be charged:

  • the current on-campus tuition rate for 12 credits, or the program’s tuition rate, whichever is the higher of the two; plus
  • room/board/program fee as determined by the program provider.

For January Term Other Approved Programs, students will be charged:

  • the current on-campus rate for 3 credits or the program’s tuition rate, whichever is the higher of the two; plus
  • room/board/program fee as determined by the program provider.

For Summer Term Other Approved Programs, students will be charged:

  • The program’s tuition rate; plus
  • room/board/program fee as determined by the program provider.
