We know you care about the world and are passionate about making it a little better than you found it. We’d love to help you make that happen.
The Office for Service and Social Justice is your hub for matters related to service and social justice in Campus Ministry. Here you can be a part of both VISION local experiences and/or our Spring Break Global Community Building Programs! You can also connect with volunteer opportunities around campus and join conversations about how to create a world where justice thrives.
The Office for Service and Social Justice supports several programs geared toward service and engagement. Each year, students are immersed in new cultural environments ranging from understanding life in border towns, such as El Paso, Texas, to off-the-grid living in California or Missouri. Each program is filled with experiences that are intended to broaden your horizons, provide new frameworks through which you can see life, and build community.
VISION Offers both local experiences here in the Twin Cities, as well as US-based traveling community-building experiences during spring break and summer. These VISION trips are formed around six components: Community, Reflection, Civic Engagement, Simplicity, Cultural Exchange, and Justice Issues. Past participants have confronted questions of immigration, land use, poverty, and public policy as they visited places like Guatemala, the Virgin Islands, White Earth Indian Reservation, and Washington, D.C., among many others. VISION is a chance to explore the world as it currently operates while exploring yourself and the people you find yourself with.
