Lunch'n Explore: The Singularity is Already Here, Not with a Bang but with a Whimper

Lunch'n Explore events feature a talk and a lunch in a tabled setting.

Event Description: Thieme predicted the impacts of the computer revolution on society at all levels a quarter century ago, from geopolitical structures down to individual identity. Now he looks at the inevitable consequences of what we are doing now - with AI, deep machine learning, lifelike avatars, autonomous weapons, biotechnical leaps and bounds into new possibilities, and all the other dual uses to which technologies are subject. The implications for democracy and other forms of government, power and control, manipulation and exploitation, are profound. But through the darkness is the light - if we accept ongoing transformation as the new normal.

Event Speaker: Richard Thieme is an author/professional speaker who addresses “the human in the machine,” technology-related security and intelligence issues as they come home to our humanity. He has published hundreds of articles, dozens of stories, seven books, and has delivered hundreds of speeches, including for NSA, FBI, Secret Service, etc. He will speak this year iat Def Con for the 26th year and has keynoted security conferences in 15 countries.
