The Role of the Body in Early Childhood Movement Exploration
Children relate to their environment by using their whole body to contextualize learning. Using the body as an instrument sin music and movement exposes multiple layers of relationships. The purpose of this project is to explore the foundational role the body plays in developing musicianship. A review of literature examines the purpose of movement in music education and the body-mind connection. An investigation of early childhood development prioritizes teaching creative movement with the use of thoughtful approaches. Provided are strategies for teaching the movement elements of body and space.
