Moved By Music: A Series of Lesson Plans and Compositions Designed to Promote Simultaneous Movement

December 15, 2011 / By: Larissa Iverson

This project explored philosophical and historical arguments for integrated learning and performance models.  Focusing most strongly on the words of and examples set by early leaders in Orff-Schulwerk like Carl Orff and Dorothee Günther, the author was most interested in the integration of movement and other musical elements.  Using two original compositions written for upper elementary students, the author developed skills in creative movement through a series of eight lesson plans designed to unite movement with speech and rhythm.
