Services for Law Alumni and Members of the Bar

Alumni and members of the bar are welcome to visit and use any of the St. Thomas libraries during library hours. Visitors are strongly encouraged to contact the service desk for information regarding specific services and resources available prior to coming to campus.

To check out and borrow materials, non-students must set up a patron account at the law library service desk. Alumni and members of the bar may incur replacement costs, overdue fees or processing fees for lost and overdue library materials.

There is no interlibrary loan service for alumni or members of the bar.

  • Access to Databases

Some of our electronic resources/ databases are available on-site using the public access computers located in the law library. However, some resources are not available. There is no alumni or guest access to Westlaw, LexisNexis or Bloomberg Law. County law libraries offer some public access to these databases.

If you have questions about a particular resource, please contact the Service Desk at lawreference@stthomas.edu or 651-962-4902.

    Law Research Guides

We also offer many research guides for faculty and students, which alumni and guests are welcome to use.

    See Law Research Guides

    Continuing Education

We are also currently working to develop continuing education trainings for our alumni on relevant issues (for example, an annual research skills and resources update). If you would like the librarians to offer a CLE on a specific topic, please let us know.

    St. Thomas Lawyer Search

Looking to connect with colleagues to discuss a case? Lawyer Search is St. Thomas Law’s online directory of our alumni. It is available to the public and can be a helpful resource for attorneys who are looking for a colleague in a specific practice area, interested in networking or want to provide a referral.
