Program Entrance Requirements:

To apply for admission to a master's degree or graduate certificate program, you will need the following:

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited educational institution in the U.S. (or international equivalent). 
  • An overall grade-point-average (GPA) of at least 2.7 out of 4.0. (Applicants with a GPA less than 2.7 will be considered for provisional admission with their professional experience factored into the decision.)

Applications for Admission are accepted on an ongoing basis. You may begin your graduate program in the fall, spring, or summer. 

Application Submission Deadlines:

  • U.S. citizens, Permanent Residents and H-1B visa recipients: At least one month before the semester starts.
  • International applicants currently living in the U.S.:  At least two months before the semester starts. 
  • International applicants living outside of the U.S.: Please apply at least four months before the semester starts.

Applications for Admission received after the deadline will be considered on a space available basis.

Admission deadlines for U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and H-1B visa holders:

International students living within the U.S should apply at least two months before the start of the term they desire entry. International students living outside of the U.S. should apply at least four months prior to the start of the term they desire entry.

How to Apply for Admission:

  1. Complete the online application for admission
  2. Pay the $50 U.S. dollars application fee (non-refundable)*
  3. R‌equest transcripts from the college/university where you achieved your bachelor's degree.**

*If you attend an information session or individual consultation, you will be eligible to receive a $20 discount off your application fee. St. Thomas employees, returning students, alumni, and U.S. veterans are eligible for a full $50 application fee waiver. Contact the Graduate Engineering department at 651-962-5500 or for details. Submitted fees are non-refundable.

** Note to International applicants: Transcripts from non- U.S. institutions have special considerations. Please view the International Applicant procedures

Items you will need to complete the online application:

  1. Resume or CV with work history (in .doc, .txt, .rtf or .pdf format)
  2. Application processing fee payment may be paid online with Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

All transcripts should be sent directly from the issuing institution's Registrar department to the University of St. Thomas. We require ALL transcripts from each university/college you have attended.
