Graduate Programs from the School of Social Work

School of Social Work

The School of Social Work at the University of St. Thomas College of Health offers graduate options that meet the needs of both full-time students and working professionals.

The School of Social Work offers the best of both worlds: the network and faculty of a large school of social work coupled with the emphasis on student development and mentoring of a smaller, teaching-focused university.

Visit the School of Social Work website to find admission requirements and deadlines, costs and financial aid, and schedule a visit.

Programs offered

Master's Program

For almost 30 years, our MSW program has focused exclusively on preparing graduates to become clinical social workers, the largest group of mental health services providers in the nation. In addition to our on-campus weekday/evening model, our Hybrid MSW provides access to a high-quality clinical education to those in outstate Minnesota and surrounding areas, where the mental health workforce gap is greatest.

Doctoral Program

Our Doctorate in Social Work focuses on education as practice and is the first online DSW program to focus specifically on preparing social work faculty for university-level teaching and leadership in teaching-intensive colleges and universities.

Joint Program

The dual degree program in social work and law is designed to provide you with both a social and legal perspective to meet the social work and legal challenges that arise in many professions. This program allows you to earn two graduate degrees in less time than it would take to earn them separately.
