Faculty & Staff Parking

The University of St. Thomas provides multiple parking options for faculty and staff, on both the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.

In order to be parked legally on property owned by St. Thomas, you must purchase a valid St. Thomas parking permit or contract, or pay hourly in a visitor parking location. To qualify for a parking permit or contract, you must have a valid St. Thomas ID card and must be engaging in St Thomas related business or events. Faculty and staff are eligible for either a parking permit or University-subsidized Metro Pass. For those who purchase a permit, but would also like to use the Metro Transit system, $20 Stored Value cards and 10-Ride Passes are available for purchase at the Campus Store.

Purchasing a permit does not guarantee a parking space and a lack of parking is not a valid excuse to violate parking policies. There are multiple parking options across campus, along with the Anderson Parking Facility. If a space is not available closest to where you need to be, make sure to check the other available lots. Parking enforcement is managed through license plate recognition. St. Thomas no longer uses hang tags. It is critical that permit and contract holders have an accurate license plate number connected to their parking permit. Visit the Parking Portal to verify that your license plate information is up to date.

Faculty/Staff Permit/Contract Options and Fees

Prices for faculty and staff permits and contracts are determined by an employee's FTE. All faculty/staff parking fees are paid for through payroll deduction. The cost of parking is divided into 25 payments (26 pay periods per academic year), which are deducted, pre-tax, from the bi-weekly payroll. Adjunct faculty, please see section below for details about parking for adjunct faculty.

Adjunct Parking Permits

Adjunct faculty are eligible for parking permits. St. Paul campus permits are valid in all red, faculty/staff surface lots and the Anderson Parking Facility. Minneapolis campus permits for adjunct faculty are valid in Lot 3, next to the Law School. The full cost of adjunct parking permits will be taken by payroll deduction in one payment.

St. Paul Campus Parking Permit: $265/year; $140/semester

St. Paul Campus Evening Parking Permit (valid after 4 p.m.): $157/year; $80/semester

Minneapolis Evening Parking permits, valid only after 4 p.m., are available to adjuncts, by semester, and cost $80.

Hourly Parking Options

Daily permit- a daily option is available through the Parking Portal for $13. The daily option cannot be purchased at pay stations, only through the Parking Portal. The daily option is only valid in the Anderson Parking Facility (APF) and is not valid for overnight parking.

Part-time Hourly Parking for St. Paul

592 hours of parking (equivalent to 16 hours of parking per week for 37 weeks) for $345 or $13.80 per pay period.

296 hours of parking (equivalent to 8 hours of parking per week for 37 weeks) for $230 or $9.20 per pay period.

Part-time parking works the same as paid guest parking. A unique code will be issued to the purchaser and will be set up to cover the number of hours purchased. Part-time parking permits will be valid only in the Anderson Parking Facility. Upon parking, the purchaser will proceed to the pay station, enter their license plate number and the length of time they plan to park. Those hours will be deducted from the total number of hours issued.

This is not a “stored value” type of purchase. These will only be issued at the start of the academic year and only one will be issued to each person. You may not purchase an additional part-time parking permit later in the same academic year if you run out of parking time. Part-time parking does not automatically renew from one year to the next.
