Transform Yourself and the World We Live In

Principled Leadership

Principled leadership is an important part of who we are and everything we do. At the Opus College of Business, we want to inspire each student to find meaningful work, transform how businesses operate and ultimately contribute to the Common Good.
A sign reading "Think. Act. Work. All for the Common Good” is shown in the skyway.

Make a Difference for the Common Good

When you’re able to rise above self-interests (pride, prestige, and ego) to improve the welfare and prosperity of your organization, its stakeholders, and the broader community, you demonstrate principled leadership. As a framework used across disciplines, principled leadership embraces business ethics, integrity, and transforming how businesses operate.

Learning Through Service

Consulting with the non-profit community

Students throughout Opus College of Business courses engage in consulting projects and opportunities for local nonprofit organizations, from assisting with business plans to helping community partners with marketing or operations challenges.

Study Abroad

St. Thomas is ranked 6th in the nation for the number of undergraduate students who participate in study abroad. And Opus graduate students are engaging in short-term global experiences in growing numbers. Many of these offerings include a service learning component while in country. You might volunteer for a day at a local orphanage or shelter, visit a local non-governmental organization to serve and learn about their mission and operations, or conduct field visits with social entrepreneurs.
