Take the Next Step

Executive MBA Admission & Fees

Start Your Executive MBA Journey

Successful applicants demonstrate the leadership skills and experience they’ll need to thrive in the Executive MBA program. To be eligible to apply, you must have at least six years of work experience and hold a U.S. bachelor's degree or its equivalent.

The admissions process for the Executive MBA is very collaborative. To learn more about your fit for the program, the admissions process, or to meet with an admissions representative, schedule a 1:1 meeting.

Application Checklist

Your first step is to start the application online. In the application, you will answer some questions and upload the documents described below. Once you've completed all components you will submit the application, and can log back into the portal at any time to check the status of your application materials.

In the online application, you will upload your resume that outlines all relevant experience.

As part of the application, we ask you to answer three essay questions. You can either download a PDF of essay questions and upload that form once you've answered the questions, or upload your own document that answers these questions:

  • Explain in detail your management style and your leadership traits. Incorporate feedback you've received and cite examples from your recent work history that illustrate both your personal strengths and your development objectives. (500 to 750 words)
  • Describe a challenging leadership or managerial dilemma at work. Detail how you addressed the situation, the outcome, and what you learned from the experience. (500 to 750 words)
  • Write about a great work-team experience. Include examples that illustrate how you have led and followed, given and received feedback, or grown and developed personally. (500 to 750 words)

To apply to this program, you must have a bachelor’s degree in any subject from a regionally accredited U.S. institution (or the international equivalent). We need original transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions you have attended, sent directly from the school. The only exception is for advanced placement courses and study abroad transfer credits - we don’t need transcripts for those.

Send via email: If your institution offers electronic transcripts, ask them to email your transcript(s) to gradadmissions@stthomas.edu.

Send via mail: Paper transcripts must be submitted in sealed envelopes and signed by the appropriate university official. Send to:

University of St. Thomas
Graduate Records - Admissions
1000 LaSalle Ave., Box 5
Minneapolis, MN 55403-2005

Once you submit your completed online application, the admissions committee will review it. If you meet the program requirements and demonstrate strong credentials, the admissions team will contact you to schedule an interview.

Scholarships

Disclaimer:

Please note that while we strive to offer a diverse range of scholarship opportunities to our students, it is important to recognize that an individual cannot receive all the scholarships listed. Each scholarship has specific eligibility criteria, and the selection process is competitive. Applicants are encouraged to carefully review the requirements for each scholarship and focus on those that align with their qualifications and goals. Award decisions are based on merit, need, and other specified criteria.

Applicants who receive full funding from an outside source are not eligible to receive scholarship awards.

Each year, a number of incoming students earn this merit-based and need-based scholarship. When awarding this scholarship, the Admissions Committee considers the full application as well as need. When you apply to the Executive MBA, you’ll automatically be considered for the Dean's Scholarship. No separate application required.

Students who complete their application by June 1 and are admitted to the Executive MBA program will receive an automatic $10,000 scholarship towards the cost of the program.

Scholarships are available to applicants who demonstrate a history of academic and professional success, leadership, service and engagement in cultural or cross-cultural initiatives in previous academic, professional or volunteer settings.

Strong candidates for the Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship will have the following characteristics:

  • Domestic candidates with two or more years of full-time work experience after college graduation
  • Strong undergraduate academic record
  • Evidence of committed involvement in activities, programs or initiatives that foster inclusion, cross-cultural awareness, or a commitment to diversity in its many forms

To be considered, you must submit a statement to your admissions representative (no more than 300 words) describing the most relevant experiences that qualify you for this award.

Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to the nonprofit sector may be eligible for special scholarship consideration and will be evaluated during the admissions interview. Awards begin at $5,000 but vary depending on the overall strength of the applicant profile. To be eligible, you must:

  • Have two or more years of full-time work experience at an established nonprofit organization
  • Evidence of a strong dedication to serving the community

If you were referred to the Executive MBA program by one of our current Executive MBA students or alumni, you are eligible for our Alumni Referral Scholarship award. How to qualify:

  • If you are accepted to the program after being referred, you will receive a $1,000 scholarship towards your first semester in the program.
  • The Executive MBA alumni or student who referred you will receive a St. Thomas Executive MBA pullover.
